Anytown’s downtown bakery, Crumb & Bloom, is proving that indulgence can nurture sustainability. The shop introduced its new “Glaze to Greens” initiative this spring, where each creative donut purchase helps fund a community garden.
Flavors are inspired by the garden itself: rosemary-orange filled donuts, matcha-mint frosted crullers, and carrot-cake cupcakes with vanilla bean drizzle. Every bite you take sows a seed—literally. For every dozen sold, the bakery donates gardening tools and seedlings to local volunteers building the space.
Beyond raising money, Crumb & Bloom is helping cultivate connection. Families and retirees alike have signed up to tend the plots, and teens are designing pollinator zones for butterflies and bees.
Garden coordinator Malik Thomas says, “It’s amazing to see something as small as a pastry become a catalyst for community growth.” The goal is to have the first planting day by early summer,
