What do maple-bacon donuts and marigolds have in common? In Anytown, USA, they both help things grow. Local bakery The Donut Patch has launched the “Sweet Seeds” campaign, blending culinary creativity with community spirit. Each donut sold supports the construction of a new community garden downtown—one that will provide fresh produce, pollinator-friendly plants, and a gathering place for neighbors.
The menu itself is a burst of imagination: strawberry-basil rings, honey-lavender twists, and a zesty lemon-thyme glaze that’s already a local favorite. Ten percent of each sale goes directly to garden supplies—seeds, tools, and soil.
Owner Maya Lopez says the idea sprouted when she realized her customers wanted to give back while enjoying something special. “Donuts bring people joy,” she smiles. “Now they can also grow tomatoes.” The community garden will feature raised beds, native flowers, and children’s gardening workshops—all built on donut-fueled generosity.
